Sunrise Community Banks/University Financial Corporation were chosen by Twin Cities Business magazine in their September issues as the Best Small Bank Group. The group includes Park Midway Bank, Franklin Bank and University National Bank that were cited as “doing well by doing good” during 2008. Noted by the magazine was that all three of the banks saw improving asset quality during a year filled with nonperforming mortgages and other loans in the industry. This said, it was done while carrying out the bank’s mission of serving the urban community and offering 60 percent or more of services to low-and moderate-income communities.
All of the Sunrise Banks have U.S. Treasury certification as Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI). This designation allows the banks to raise deposits nationally from nonprofits, social entrepreneurs, religious institutions and other groups interested in socially responsible investing.
Park Midway Bank is also a SBA Preferred lender providing business acquisition loans, franchise lending and commercial real estate and equipment financing.
