News - MBA Bank Champion


	MBA Bank Champion Pictured are Jackie Sticha, Rick and Cheryl Kohout from Como Friends The Minnesota Bankers Association (MBA) recently presented Rick Beeson, President and CEO of Park Midway Bank in St. Paul, with the 2009 Bank Champion Award. The honor was given in conjunction with the MBA's 120th Annual Meeting from June 14 - 16 in Brainerd. The Bank Champion Award was established to recognize a banker who has been an outstanding champion of banking through proactive leadership that supports the best interests of Minnesota's banking community. Bankers were nominated by their peers and judged on involvement in banking, their community, and the legislature. Under Beeson's leadership, Park Midway Bank was designated as a community development financial institution (CDFI) from the United States Treasury Department. In order to receive this honor, Park Midway Bank underwent a grueling application process to demonstrate its commitment and success in serving low-income customers. As part of the award, the MBA donated $1000 to Como Friends at Como Zoo.
