Park Perks
Park Perks, our coffee bar raised $1,177.29 in March for the Murray Jr High Tutoring Program. The program matches tutors to students to assist with homework to help kids succeed. Cindy Thrasher, resident of St Anthony Park designed and coordinates the program. Contact Murray Jr High for more information.
In February, $1012 was raised for the St Anthony Park Elementary Instrumental Band. The band is directed by Leo Bjorlie, a St Anthony Park resident and band teacher. With cuts in the district budget, the school faced the possibility of not being able to continue the programs which include orchestra and band. The community has been generous enabling the school to continue offering this music program to the neighborhood children.
The January beneficiary was the Roseville String Ensemble with $874 raised. Founded in 1998, the 40 member orchestra attracts fine players from around the metro area because of their unique program. They are the Twin Cities only amateur orchestra dedicated to string repertoire. It is a community chamber orchestra that provides free concerts and other public performances. May's recipient group will be the Minnesota Horticultural Society.
