Small Business
Heimie’s Haberdashery
Heimie’s Haberdashery opened its doors in November 2004. Located at 402 St Peter Street in downtown St. Paul, the store provides high quality men’s and women’s garments, accessories and services to its clientele. Heimie’s also provides custom tailoring, fashion consulting and barbering services.
Heimie’s was originally established in 1920 by Anthony Andler’s great grandfather, Heimie Andler. Heimie was a Russian immigrant who worked alongside his father to learn the craft of tailoring. Anthony is now the fourth generation of Andler tailors. Anthony decided to bring back street level merchandizing to downtown St Paul since the independent men’s clothing stores closed their doors in the early nineties. The store also has a barber’s chair and provides haircuts, manicures and shoe shines.
After almost three years in his present location, Anthony has now expanded into the former Bockstruck’s Jewelry space at Sixth Street and St Peter. He has seen his customer base grow, drawing from the office workers and downtown residents. By moving into the larger space he has been able to expand inventory and add another barber chair. Park Midway Bank partnered with Anthony early on to provide SBA financing for his store and now his expansion, along with using city programs to get the needed funds for growth.
For more information on the store, call Anthony at 651-224-2354 or check his website www.arandler.com.
